Toxapex Flirts with Corsola

Description

From Pokemon Sun, my male Toxapex (Reaper) and female Corsola (Corale) have been afflicted with spring fever! Okay so maybe it's one sided....*wink wink!* ;)

Pokemon Sun and Moon introduces to us an interesting predator/prey relationship between the Toxapex evolutionary line and Generation 2 Pokemon, Corsola.

I'm a big fan odd romances - also vampires - and this relationship is somewhat both of those things.

Unlike the blood feud rivalry between Zangoose and Seviper from Generation 3, Corsola and Toxapex have a serious predator/prey relationship that is in fact quite brutal. Toxapex isn't known as 'the brutal star Pokemon' for nothing, with its Pokedex entry stating that it leaves bits of Corsola in its wake.

Interestingly enough, these two are apart of the same egg group and can breed, with Corsola able to learn Liquidation through its egg move with Toxapex. Also the both share the hidden ability Regenerator. Corsola also has several moves in its pool (Lucky Chant) to negate critical hits from ...say a Merciless, Toxic, and Venoshock packing Toxapex...let alone natural abilities to heal status conditions (like poison).

Those cute little pink things are going to need everything they can to stop these guys....and by Pokedex entries it's not enough. Corsola are rare in the Alola region.

Also interesting to note that stag horn coral and the crown of thorns sea star both reproduce by throwing their gametes (sperm and eggs) out in to the open ocean to fertilize. Maybe this is why Toxapex and Corsola are in the same egg group? You decide.

Anyhow...I hope you all like this very romantic piece!

It's odd that Toxapex's prey can learn Liquidation from breeding.
